About Manager Development Services
MDS is a California based company that trains managers and employees in the philosophy and practice of a new “transformative” approach to managing. Because most of our programs are web-based, we are not limited to a particular geographical area, and because our philosophy is universal, our training is not limited to a particular industry. Our cofounders have backgrounds in managing and counseling, as well as nearly a combined half-century of experience, and are dedicated to the belief that each individual has a right to excel.
We train managers how to develop their most valuable assets - their people.
By teaching the principles of what we call, "Emotional Engagement," managers learn how to inspire (not motivate) their staffs to become vested in the success of the business and take ownership of their positions. With this, employees become Career-Minded instead of Job-Minded.
We don’t teach “number-crunching,” market analytics, or statistics. There are plenty of great programs already out there for that.
We teach people how to relate, collaborate, and connect with others on a professional level with a common objective.
Our premise is simple: Purpose + Passion + Process = Power
We teach managers how to define Purpose, inspire Passion, and implement a Process that unleashes unimaginable Power – real Power (not the illusion many believe is power).
Traditional managerial styles impede collaboration between management and staff, retarding creativity and growth. Most managers are promoted to that position because they are excellent at what they do. Unfortunately, few ever learn how to connect with people on a “human being” level. Thus, they adopt traditional styles they’ve witnessed, limiting their ability to excel.
Success in business is all about relationships. Successful managers understand and appreciate what inspires their staffs. Make raving fans of your staff and they will be willing to go to war for you. At MDS, we believe everyone has the right to realize their full potential.
Bio - Larry D. Braley
Whether it was as a 17 year old where I became an assistant manager in a restaurant or my current position of running the Investment and Insurance Services Division of a financial services institution, managing has not only been my career, it has always been my passion.
My goal has always been to have employees that report to me to “own” their individual position within the organization. This creates a true team that can achieve great results and will positively affect the bottom line of the company. This belief has led my program to being awarded national awards, including the 2009 Bank Insurance and Securities Association Community Bank Program of the Year. I have the following financial services licenses: Series 63, 65, 7, 24 and California Life License. I am the division Principal and OSJ/Compliance Officer.
I am also Co-Founder of Manager Development Services (MDS) where the focus is on companies and individuals to truly understand that managing is an “Art”. I have co-authored several books and developed a complete web based E-learning program. The MDS program allows organizations of any size to effectively incorporate this into their manager and employee training program.
Life is also about balance and most importantly, family. I have been married for 37 years, father of two and now have the privilege of being the grandfather of three wonderful grandsons. I currently reside in California after growing up in the mid-west.
Bio - Ray D. Gragg
I am an entrepreneur with thirty-five years’ experience building, managing, and operating businesses. I’ve written fifteen books, including fiction, self-help, and business. I have also developed numerous workshops and have presented topics for both personal and professional growth.
I have ten years’ experience as the Senior Counselor at a prominent Southern Californian rehab facility. I’m a member in good standing of the California Association of Drug and Alcohol Educators and am certified by the State of California as an Addiction Treatment Counselor.
But my most important role is being the proud father of four with two grandchildren I currently reside in California where I was born and raised.
